PORTAGE | A Portage woman is accused of pulling a knife during an argument with her sister and smashing her sister’s windshield with a pumpkin in an argument over $10.
Portage police were called about 6:30 p.m. Thursday to a home in the 700 block of Seventh Street for a disturbance between two adult sisters.
Police said Regina Gonzalez and her sister had been arguing since Wednesday, and on Thursday, Gonzalez said she was owed $10 by her sister. Police said Gonzalez took her sister’s cellphone and cigarettes as collateral. When her sister grabbed the items from Gonzalez, police said Gonzalez punched her sister in the face and then grabbed and broke her glasses.
According to police, her sister said Gonzalez picked up a knife and threatened to cut the tire on her car. The women’s mother intervened and Gonzalez went outside, where she threw a pumpkin at the windshield of her sister’s car, causing it to break.
The glasses were valued at $259 and the estimated cost to replace the windshield is $300.
Gonzalez, 27, was charged with criminal mischief and battery, both misdemeanors.
