PORTAGE | Portage firefighters responded to a house fire just before 7 a.m. at 2890 Glenwood St. Friday morning.

When crews arrived, they found smoke coming from the eaves and roof vents of the home on the city's southwest side, said Division Chief Rob Fedorchak.

Residents evacuated prior to the fire department's arrival.

The fire was in the wall and attic of house. Firefighters pulled some ceiling areas to get at the fire and the house received fire and water damage, Fedorchak said.

The cause still under investigation. There were no injuries reported. Fire crews left the scene at 8:30 a.m.

Portage fire crews were assisted at the scene and by station coverage by South Haven, Ogden Dunes, Burns Harbor, Liberty Township, and Union Township fire departments.
