GARY | The fourth annual Fly 4 Life event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 17 at Marquette Park in Miller Beach.

LNL Foundation Executive Director Karen Hannon said the Fly 4 Life event benefits childhood cancer on a national level.

LNL Foundation donates Lounge N Lax functional children's wear to children's hospitals for children with cancer. The garments consists of a functional cap that regulates the body temperature and camouflages baldness due to the side effects of chemotherapy, matching lounge pants for comfort, a stuffed toy with matching cap and a carrying bag.

Fly 4 Life is the annual kite flying event that raises money to assist in donations to children, said Hannon, a Portage resident.

"This year we will have a dedication ceremony to the loss of a child that was honored by LNL Foundation at the Fly 4 Life event in 2011," said Hannon, adding they will also be giving away back to school supplies for the children.

The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. For more information, contact Hannon at (219) 331-4771 or visit
