PORTAGE | Northwest Indiana Pet Project & Kibble Kitchen is hosting an informational volunteer meeting from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Portage Public Library, 2665 Irving St.

The meeting originally was scheduled to take place earlier but inclement weather forced the Kibble Kitchen staff to reschedule.

Learn about the pantry's mission, speak with current volunteers and fill out a volunteer application. All are welcome and those bringing a guest will be entered into a drawing for a door prize.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age or be accompanied by an adult. RSVP prior to Saturday by joining the event on the group’s Facebook page at Seating is limited to 40.

The Kibble Kitchen Pet Pantry originally was established to assist families within Porter County facing financial hardship, all while promoting responsible pet ownership.

The pantry has occasionally extended its services beyond Porter County and the organization is currently preparing to permanently serve Lake County as well. To learn more about the Kibble Kitchen Pet Pantry visit
