PORTAGE | A 32-year-old man was arrested after reportedly beating up a friend who allowed him to stay at his place.
Erik Gutierrez, of Portage, faces battery, resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct charges.
Portage police responded to a home in the 1900 block of Truman Street just before 5 a.m. Tuesday where they found a 40-year-old man on the floor with blood around his mouth and nose and Gutierrez charging toward him.
Police said they handcuffed Gutierrez and spoke to the injured man who said Gutierrez took his truck earlier without permission. After he returned, an argument ensued and Gutierrez reportedly punched the man several times.
Gutierrez was ultimately arrested and taken to Porter County Jail.
