PORTAGE | A Union Township man led police on a chase through a cornfield early Tuesday evening before being arrested.
Sean McLinn, 30, of 395 N. County Road 375 West, was charged with resisting law enforcement and public intoxication.
About 6:18 p.m. Tuesday police responded to a report of a reckless driver in the area of the Prairie Duneland Trail and Countryside Park.
Police saw McLinn riding his mo-ped on the trail. When McLinn reached Swanson Road, he exited the trail, turned onto Lute Road and headed east with police in pursuit. In the 5800 block of Lute Road, he turned into a driveway and continued into a yard and then into a cornfield, according to the police report.
About 100 yards into the corn, police located McLinn's sandals. In another 50 yards, they found his abandoned mo-ped. A canine unit was called to track McLinn, who eventually was found on the west side the the field lying in weeds.
He was taken to Porter County Jail.
