PORTAGE | Comfort Keepers of Portage is seeking nominations for its Most Vital Senior Award.
The award honors seniors for contributions to the community and strives to recognize seniors who add to the vitality of Portage through their service.
Charlie Moore, of Portage’s Comfort Keepers, said that recognition is important and many seniors provide a very important role in service through their work and volunteering as well as being a role model or mentor to others of all ages in the community.
He said that much positive work could not be done if it were not for the time and devotion of seniors to the Portage community.
Nominations for the award are being accepted through April 5.
Criteria include:
• Live in the Portage community
• Be 70 years old or older
• Purpose in life (has things to look forward to each day, hobbies, interests)
• Work or community involvement (still working FT or PT – volunteering, clubs and organization involvement)
• Friends of all ages (relates to people older and younger)
• Awareness of community and world events (reads and/or listens to current events – sharing his/her thoughts with others)
• Maintains a healthy lifestyle (stays balanced with involvement, family, spiritual interests, proper diet and exercise)
The Most Vital Senior and runners-up will be recognized at the Senior Health Fair presented by the Mayor’s Advisory committee on Senior Services. The fair is from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday May 2 at Woodland Park, 2100 Willowcreek Road.
All nominees will be presented with a Nominees Awards Certificate as well.
