PORTAGE | Two men were arrested Tuesday night after a fight with employees at Buffalo Wild Wings, 6530 U.S. 6.
Joseph Manfred, 31, of Valparaiso, was charged with two counts of battery, disorderly conduct and public intoxication. Jacob Newsome, 28, of South Haven, was charged with battery, disorderly conduct, public intoxication and criminal mischief.
According to a police report, the two men entered the restaurant about 10:30 p.m. after being told to leave another restaurant in the city. A server reported to the manager that the men appeared to be intoxicated, were bothering female customers and then began saying things to the server, making her feel uncomfortable.
The manager asked the men to leave and brought them their check. Newsome paid the manager and when the manager walked back to the table to give Newsome his change, he knocked everything off of their table, police said.
Manfred then began saying things to the manager and pushed him, police said. The manager went to call police. Another employee stepped in and Manfred attacked him, causing other employees to get involved, police said.
Three witnesses told police Manfred and Newsome both struck an employee during an altercation. A fourth witness, a friend of Manfred's, disputed the story, blaming employees for starting the fight.
