PORTAGE | A Portage man faces a long list of felony charges after police said he struck his girlfriend and baby, then struggled with police as they tried to take him into custody.
Troy Worthington, 34, was arrested Friday and charged with domestic battery, strangulation, neglect of a dependent, intimidation, invasion of privacy, criminal confinement and battery.
Police were called about 9 a.m. Friday to a home in the 300 block of Camelot Estates to investigate a report of a disturbance.
Police said a woman at that residence told officers Worthington had been drinking and was carrying around their baby in a “papoose”-type baby carrier.
The woman said he pushed her to the floor, then gave her the baby to feed. She told police when she went to a bedroom to sit on a bed to feed the baby, Worthington climbed onto the bed, sat on her, the began to slap her and choke her. She said he hit the baby while he was beating her. He also threatened to kill her.
Police said the woman had bruising, cuts and lumps on her face and head. The baby reportedly had a laceration near his eye and a lump on his forehead.
Police said Worthington was found hiding under the bottom bunk of a bunk bed. Police said he refused to come out, so an officer had to pull him out by his arm as he violently resisted.
Another man in the home told police that he and Worthington together drank 22 beers and a half pint of Vodka. He said Worthington began to argue with the woman over a pound of hamburger.
