PORTAGE | The Board of Works on Monday approved the purchase of two SUVs for the Police Department.
The 2013 Ford vehicles will be purchased from Lakeshore Ford of Burns Harbor for a total cost of $55,000.
In other business, the board took under advisement quotes for a crack sealing machine for the street department.
Quotes were received from Seal Masters of Indianapolis for $39,577; Bernath Leasing Inc. of South Bend for $50,150 and Link Environmental Equipment of Winamac for $48,577.
Street Superintendent Steve Charnetzky told the board they also would have to purchase an air compressor and water tank and pump to operate the crack sealing machine. The cost of those items was about $13,600.
