PORTAGE | The Redevelopment Commission this week approved the demolition of a home along the Little Calumet River.
The home at 1344 Burns Drive has been hanging over the east arm of the Little Calumet River since it was damaged during flooding. It is vacant.
City Engineer John Hannon said the structure was inspected for any environmental hazards and none were found.
R.V. Sutton, of Chesterton, was the lowest bidder at a cost of $32,350.
