PORTAGE | Portage High School's annual College Fair is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Sept. 18 at Portage High East in the south cafeteria and commons area.
Career/technical schools, the military and apprenticeship programs are among the 70 representatives in addition to colleges and universities.
This is an excellent opportunity for middle and high school students to begin communicating directly with college representatives, said Shirley Bustos, Portage High guidance counselor.
Students from all area schools are welcome to attend. Parents are encouraged to attend with their child. Adults in the community who are thinking of enrolling in college also will find helpful information.
The college fair provides students with the opportunity to compare one college with another and to search for colleges with their intended major. Meeting with a college rep at the fair might provide additional information about that college that isn’t found on the website.
High school seniors often feel overwhelmed or confused about the college application process. The college fair provides a setting to ask questions, get answers and walk away with brochures to peruse at a later time, Bustos said.
