PORTAGE | The city is invoking its frost law regulations on Portage streets due to the warm temperatures expected over the next few weeks.

Signs will be posted throughout the city.

If trucks are overweight and cannot be broken down into smaller loads, the company must apply for a variance.

Applications for variances are available on the city's website at www.ci.portage.in.us or call (219) 762-4204. Variances must accompany the driver. Violators will be subject to a fine.

Roads not subject to the frost law are any state or interstate routes and Willowcreek Road/Willowcreek Road Bypass between U.S. 6 and U.S. 20.
