PORTAGE | The Board of Works this week authorized seeking bids for a new ambulance.
Fire Chief Tom Fieffer told the board the oldest "front line" ambulance is a 2006 model with some 100,000 miles and needs to be replaced.
The other two ambulances were purchased in 2010 and 2011 and the backup ambulance is a 1999 model.
Fieffer was directed to get quotes on a new ambulance with both direct purchase and lease/purchase prices.
