PORTAGE | A 29-year-old Portage man died after a motorcycle accident Tuesday night.

He was identified as Jorge Flores by Porter County Chief Deputy Coroner Bob Byrd.

Police were called shortly after 11 p.m. to U.S. 20 and Old Porter Road, where they found a motorcyclist had hit a guardrail.

Flores was taken to Porter Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:12 a.m. Wednesday, Byrd said.

Police said a witness told them Flores had been eastbound on Old Porter Road from the area of Jellystone Park at a high speed.

Investigators found Flores left the road, overcorrected, then once back on the highway locked his brakes and skidded into the guardrail.

Byrd said there will be no autopsy, but toxicology tests will be conducted.

The crash remains under investigation.
