Portage man ordered to pay more to victim of child porn
HAMMOND | A Portage man has been ordered to pay another $1,577 to a victim of child pornography he was convicted of possessing.
The additional money Mark Ontiveros must pay is to cover the victim's attorney fees and other expenses, according to the amended judgment filed Thursday by federal Judge Joseph Van Bokkelen in Hammond court.
Ontiveros was ordered in June to pay $4,500 plus legal fees, far less than 1 percent of the more than $1.2 million in losses and fees prosecutors claimed the victim suffered.
Ontiveros pleaded guilty in 2010 to possessing and receiving more than 1,000 images of child porn featuring children as young as 4.
Van Bokkelen sentenced Ontiveros in March to more than 11 years in prison.
