PORTAGE | Mayor James Snyder told the Redevelopment Commission last week that he wants to begin communicating with the city's residents via an expanded quarterly newsletter.
Snyder said he recently held town hall meetings with residents regarding the upcoming changes in trash collection and found there needed to be a way for the city to better communicate with residents.
He said the Utility Department already issues a quarterly newsletter, but would like to expand upon it, giving each department a page to explain issues or events.
"We can do this relatively inexpensively," said Snyder, adding the money would come from the tax abatement marketing fund.
Snyder said the newsletter would not be published in an election year. The city's newsletter became an issue in last year's city elections and Snyder said he wanted to avoid that happening again.
Snyder said he would bring a sample of what he has in mind to the Redevelopment Commission at its next meeting for review.
