PORTAGE | Three Willowcreek Middle School students were arrested Friday for either possessing or dealing marijuana at the school, according to Portage police.
School Resource Officer Greg Coleman was called to the school by Willowcreek administrators after they learned that a student at the school may be selling marijuana.
When Coleman arrived, administrators had detained a seventh-grader who had been identified by another student as the one who had sold the drug.
The student accused of selling the marijuana, according to the police report, refused to cooperate with police to empty his pockets or to have them searched.
Coleman eventually patted him down and found three small packets of marijuana inside a pocket consistent with the size and shape of marijuana that was packaged for sale. The student also had a $10 bill in his pocket.
This student was charged with dealing marijuana on school property.
Two other students were charged with possession of marijuana. The one student told police he had purchased the marijuana from the first boy with a $10 bill. That boy was concerned about being caught with it and gave it to a second boy to hold.
All three were transported to the Porter County Juvenile Detention Center.
