PORTAGE | The Portage Park Board last week approved the purchase of a new software package aimed at improving procedures such as registrations and preschool enrollment processes.
The software package will be bought from ReCPro for $14,000. In addition, a three-year maintenance agreement was purchased for $3,500.
"This is an essential tool," Assistant Superintendent Colin Highlands said. "We are literally still working on (a process using) carbon copies."
Highlands said he expects the new software will save the department thousands of dollars by making work more efficient.
Jenny Orsburn said the software, which will be operational in about two months, also will allow the department to post more and do more online.
"Our goal is having a place for people to go to get as much information as possible," she said, adding it also will allow people to register for programs or classes online.
