PORTAGE | Police are investigating an attempted arson in the 800 block of Camelot Manor that was reported Thursday morning.
A resident called police after he found the rear driver side tire of a pickup truck had been flattened and a back window broken out.
When police arrived, the officer noticed an odor of what he believed to be kerosene and an oil substance on the bed cover and tailgate of the truck and on the ground around the truck.
The officer also found a can near the truck, with phrases such as "snitches get stitches" and "courtesy of drug dealer you stole from" written in marker. In addition, he found a broken bottle containing a substance and stuffed with a piece of cloth that appeared to be burned.
The officer also found a substance he believed to be kerosene near the mobile home.
The resident told police he believed someone was trying to retaliate against him because he had contacted police with information regarding a fire last month in the mobile home park.
