PORTAGE | Police are asking for help in identifying two men they say injured a theater employee during the theft of a promotional poster for the new Batman film.
About 3 a.m. July 20, the men approached two employees at the Portage 16 IMAX, 6550 U.S. 6, as the midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" let out and asked if they could have a large cardboard promotional poster, Portage police said.
The employees informed the men the theater needed the item and they couldn't take it with them, police said. About five minutes later, the employees saw one of the men, wearing a tie-dyed shirt, leaving the theater with the poster, police said. A female employee began chasing after the man when his accomplice appeared and shoved her into a wall, police said.
The woman suffered a broken right wrist, and the men left with the poster, police said.
While solving the theft is important, police said, investigators are most concerned about the battery.
Anyone with information about the case or the possible identities of the men see in surveillance images is asked to call police Lt. Dennis Meyers at (219) 762-3122.
