PORTAGE | The Portage Police Department forcibly entered a home at 5865 Carnation St. Tuesday afternoon to serve a warrant for alleged drug dealing.
Dennis Green, 66, of that address, was arrested on the warrant and may face additional charges through the Porter County Narcotics Unit.
Police arrived at the home just before 3 p.m. to serve the warrant. The SWAT team was activated, according to the report, because Green had several prior resisting arrest charges against him. Police also believed several firearms were in the home and that Green trained attack dogs, which might be in the home, the report said.
When police announced their presence, no one opened the door, which officers then opened with a ram. Three people besides Green were at the home.
Green was taken into custody without incident.
During a search of the home, police found a clear plastic bag containing what appeared to be marijuana in a bedroom. Police found another plastic baggie containing what appeared to be marijuana in Green's shirt pocket during a search, according to the report.
Green was taken to Porter County Jail.
