PORTAGE | Police confiscated a slew of prescription pills along with cash and a handgun while serving an arrest warrant Friday.
According to Portage Police Department, the department's SWAT team descended on an apartment in the 5400 block of Central Avenue about 3:45 p.m. Friday to serve an warrant for Todd Rickard, 56, who was wanted for alleged drug dealing.
Police said while taking Rickard into custody, officers saw numerous prescription pill bottles and cash lying around the apartment. After receiving a search warrant, officers confiscated hundreds of dollars in cash, marijuana, a pistol, pills and several stolen street signs.
Chief Troy Williams said with the raid, the city's officers continue their fight against drugs and illegal activity in the city.
Police said additional charges are pending, due to drugs and other items found inside the apartment.
Rickard was taken to Porter County Jail.
