Jewelry worth nearly $20,000 stolen from home in Portage
PORTAGE | Residents of the 7300 block of Lenburg Road reported to police Monday afternoon that someone had broken into their home and stolen nearly $20,000 in jewelry.
The couple told police they left the home between 1:30 and 2 p.m. Monday and returned just before 4:30 p.m. to find the front door had been forced open.
The rings, bracelets, cuff links and necklaces had been stored in two jewelry boxes in a bedroom. Both jewelry boxes were missing.
Two suspects in green vehicle seen stealing TV in Portage
PORTAGE | Police are investigating a residential burglary which occurred about noon Monday in the 5500 block of Boulder Avenue.
According to a police press release, a dark green vehicle, believed to be a Kia with an Indiana handicapped license plate, was seen on Tulip Avenue, then on Boulder Avenue, where it backed onto the driveway of the home at which the burglary occurred.
A heavyset black male, wearing a stocking cap, occupied the driver's seat. A second subject, described as a thin, black male, was seen exiting the residence with a 32-inch flat screen television. The vehicle left in an unknown direction.
