PORTAGE | A $150,000 semi tractor was reported stolen Friday from the lot of Great Lakes Peterbilt, 5900 Southport Road.

The 2015 tractor was apparently stolen overnight. Employees reported Friday morning that a pad lock was broken on a gate entering the east parking lot of the facility. Audio equipment stolen from truck

PORTAGE | A man reported to police Sunday afternoon that someone entered his truck, likely overnight, and took a number of pieces of audio equipment.

The man, a Michigan resident temporarily staying in the 800 block of 8th Street, said that he thought he had locked the vehicle. There were no signs of forced entry.

Missing were two 12-inch speakers valued at $700; an audio enhancer, valued at $300; an amplifier, valued at $1,000; a tuner, valued at $379 and a second tuner, valued at $426. Also missing from the pick-up truck was a gun case for a pistol. While the pistol was not in the case, it did contain two magazines and the gun's registration.

Lottery tickets taken from gas station; employee suspected

UNION TOWNSHIP | A 20-year-old Portage man told police he took about $700 worth of lottery tickets while working at Speedway gas station, 473 W. U.S. 30.

Police were called Friday to the station about 5:30 p.m. Friday where a  district manager told police they had confronted an employee about missing cash and lottery tickets.

Police said the employee, a 20-year-old Portage man, said he took the tickets because he needed money. Because the employee was cooperative and gave a written statement he was released and will be questioned later by detectives.
