Truck for sale reported stolen from business in Portage

PORTAGE | A Portage man reported to police Wednesday evening that a truck he had for sale had been stolen.

The man told police he had parked the 1999 Dodge Ram, valued at $4,000, in front of his brother's business at 5370 U.S. 6 and had it for sale.

The brother drove past the business about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, saw the truck missing and called his brother. The owner then called police.

Jackson Township residence burglarized and ransacked

JACKSON TOWNSHIP | Porter County police are investigating a home burglary reported Wednesday.

Police were called about 5:30 p.m. to a home in the 600 East block of 700 North where a friend of the homeowner discovered a rear door kicked in.

Police said a bedroom was ransacked. Jewelry and a television were reported stolen from the home.
