Chesterton residence break-in fails; burglars ransack shed

CHESTERTON | A resident of the 100 block of Brown Avenue reported to Chesterton police Monday morning that someone attempted to break into his home.

The man told police a noise was heard outside at 3 a.m. and when he checked the home it appeared someone had pulled screens from a window and damaged a windowsill in an attempt to break in. An unlocked shed was entered and a power washer, valued at $50, was taken.

 

Thieves net glider swing worth $100 from yard in Chesterton

CHESTERTON | A resident of the 500 block of East Morgan Avenue reported to police Monday evening that someone had taken a white glider swing from his yard. The swing was valued at $100.

Window broken in car parked at residence in Chesterton

CHESTERTON | A resident of the 800 block of West Morgan Avenue reported to police Tuesday morning that someone had broken a driver's side window out of his car overnight while it was parked at his home. Nothing appeared missing from the car.

 

Car vandalized in Portage High parking lot; damage is $1,000

PORTAGE | A Portage resident reported to police Tuesday morning  that someone had "keyed" the side of her car while it was parked in the Portage High School north parking lot the previous evening while she attended an event at the school. The damage was estimated at $1,000.
