Home burglarized, then burglarized again
PORTER TOWNSHIP | The owner of a home who reported a burglary Saturday morning called police back a second time Saturday to report the burglars had returned.
Police were called shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday to a home on County Road 310 South. The owners of the vacant home told police someone had broken into the home and removed copper pipes. Steel cabinets were taken from the barn.
The owner stayed at the house until about 1 p.m. The owner returned to the house about 4:45 p.m. and discovered additional items had been taken after she left at 1 p.m., including a fireplace insert.
Tools stolen from unlocked vehicle
PORTAGE | A resident of the 3100 block of Teresa Street reported to police Sunday afternoon that someone stole several tools from his pick-up truck.
The resident told police someone apparently had entered the unlocked truck overnight and stole a cordless impact wrench, cordless impact driver, cordless drill and cordless battery jump pack. The items were valued at about $370.
Porter man charged with intimidation
PORTER | A Porter man was arrested Sunday night after police said he punched a relative and threatened to shoot and kill him.
Andrew Sconce, 32, of Porter, is charged with intimidation and battery.
Police said Sconce became angry because a relative left him at home without a vehicle. According to the victim, Sconce punched him repeatedly in the face, then retrieved a gun, pointed it at him and threatened to kill him. The victim ran to a nearby intersection.
Police were called and took Sconce into custody. No gun was located.
Trailer, tools taken from driveway
PORTAGE TOWNSHIP | A trailer containing tools and a scaffolding was reported stolen Friday from a home in the 700 block of Fremont Road.
The owner told police the trailer was worth about $3,000 and tools and other contents were worth about $6,100. The owner told police he was working on a home and left the trailer there locked with his tools inside. A neighbor told police a teal or turquoise pickup truck hauled away the trailer on June 11.
Electronics, firearm taken from home
LIBERTY TOWNSHIP | Electronics and a pistol were reported stolen Friday from a home in the 600 North block of Calumet Avenue.
Police said two computers, a camera, an iPad and video game system were taken. A 9 mm semiautomatic Ruger was also taken.
Police said there was no forced entry into the home.
