Portage, state police to conduct sobriety check point on Friday
The Lowell District of the Indiana State Police in conjunction with the Northern Porter County Traffic Safety Partnership and Portage Police Department will conduct a sobriety checkpoint during the evening hours in Porter County on Friday.
This checkpoint is in conjunction with the Operation Pull Over Blitz No. 74 "Aggressive Driving and Driving Under the Influence," March 8 through March 24.
Drivers that encounter a check point will be required to produce a valid license and registration. Motorists who are not impaired can expect delays of two to three minutes. If all information is correct and there is no other reason to be detained, they will be released.
After the check point, troopers will conduct roving saturation patrols, seeking impaired drivers throughout the district.
