PORTAGE | Roads that had been earmarked for striping this year will have to wait until next year to be completed.
Portage Director of Public Works A.J. Monroe told the City Council this week that the work would not be completed as planned.
Portions of Central Avenue, Willowcreek Road and the roads in AmeriPlex at the Port were scheduled to be striped after they had been crack sealed earlier this year. The Redevelopment Commission in October awarded a contract to Roadsafe Traffic Systems, of Crown Point, to do the work at the cost of $40,448.
Monroe said the company began the work, but issues arose and the work stopped.
Since that time, the weather has not cooperated for the company to return and complete the work, Monroe said. Temperatures have to be above 50 degrees and roads must be dry before the paint can be applied to the roads.
