Tournament bridge players don't take a holiday, no matter what the weather brings. In Highland and Calumet Township, they play weekly games on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturday, always with the goal of earning master points.
In a recent bridge sectional tournament held in Merrillville, the top seven scorers for the three-day event were Dave Bigler, co-chairman of the event, of Hobart; John Chmielowiec, of Michigan City; Carol Osgerby, of Dyer; Lou Nimnicht, of Crown Point; Lynne Kostopoulos, of Lansing, Ill.; Joe Chin, of Highland; and Chuck Briggs, chairman of the event, of Hobart.
