PORTAGE | Thieves have struck at the home of a teenage girl who uses a walker.

Portage police are investigating the theft of an aluminum walker from the front yard of a home in the 3000 block of Angelina Street.

Police were called Thursday morning when the homeowners discovered someone took it between 6:30 and 6:45 a.m.

The walker, valued at $1,000, is a 3-foot tall, four-wheeled aluminum walker with a red stripe on the left handle. The victim's name is written on the walker's legs.

Police said the residents use the walker to get their daughter on the school bus.

Anyone with information about the walker should call Lt. Dennis Meyers at (219) 762-3122.

Thursday's theft of a walker follows the theft of a wheelchair on Sept. 10 from a home in 400 block of Plymouth Road in Portage Township.
