Three PHS students to compete in state honor band

PORTAGE | Three Portage High School students have been chosen to participate in the Indiana Honor Band next month.

Kimberly Coffey, Jahnathan Davis and Austin Hamang will travel to Fort Wayne on Jan. 17 to participate in the three-day event, which culminates in a concert at the Fort Wayne Embassy Theater on Jan. 19.

The honor band is sponsored by the Indiana Music Educators Association.

Coffey plays flute and is the drum major for the PHS marching band. Davis plays baritone and is the horn sergeant with the marching band. Hamang plays French horn. All three are members of the school's jazz band.
