PORTAGE | The owner of No Regrets tattoo shop detained a 20-year-old man who broke into his business early Saturday morning, according to Portage police.

A 17-year-old accomplice was arrested a few blocks away, according to police.

Officers were called about 1:25 a.m. Saturday to the shop at 5478 Central Ave., where they found the owner with Sean Stepp, 20, of Lake Station, seated on the floor.

According to police, the owner confronted Stepp and a 17-year-old boy who ran from the shop.

Stepp did not run, and apologized for breaking into the business, according to police.

The 17-year-old Lake Station boy said they broke into the business by breaking the glass of the back door.

According to police, the 17-year-old said they wanted to start up their own tattoo business, so they broke into No Regrets to steal supplies because they did not have the money to buy them.

Stepp was arrested and charged with burglary, a Class B felony.

The 17-year-old boy was taken to the Porter County Juvenile Detention Center and faces the same charge.
