PORTAGE | A man wanted in connection with an alleged October gang attack at Camden Apartments was arrested at a north side hotel Sunday, reportedly found hiding under a bed.
Christopher Driver, 25, of Valparaiso, faces an additional resisting law enforcement charge in addition to his outstanding warrant for alleged criminal gang activity following his arrest.
According to Portage police, officers were called around 8:45 p.m. Sunday to the Days Inn, 6161 Melton Road, on a tip that Driver was staying in a second-floor room.
Police said Danielle Stanford, 25, of Portage, answered the door when officers knocked and said Driver wasn't in her room and she didn't know where he was. Police said they showed Stanford a signed warrant for Driver's arrest, and she reportedly again said she didn't know where he was.
Officers began searching the room and reportedly found Driver hiding under the bed. He was taken to Porter County Jail without further incident, police said.
Stanford also was arrested. She faces a false informing charge.
Police allege that on Oct. 14, Driver was among a group of alleged gang members who beat a 41-year-old man walking to pick up his daughter from her school bus.
