PORTAGE TOWNSHIP | A 21-year-old Portage Township woman was arrested and charged with battery Sunday after police said she became angry at a 13-year-old boy at a swimming pool, pulled him under the water, scratched him, then punched him in the head.
Jessica Rose told police the boy continually jumped into the Pleasant Valley mobile home park pool near her and her 2-year-old son.
Rose told Porter County officers she grabbed the boy and pulled him under water. When the boy tried to kick her, she pulled him out of the water and punched him on the side of the head.
Police said the boy had scratch marks on his chest and back, and he said the side of his head was sore.
Rose was arrested and charged with felony battery because the victim was younger than 14.
