PORTAGE | A woman involved in an apparent road rage incident Thursday night has been charged with felony battery.
Amy Devries, 39, 1903 Jackson St., Portage, was released from Porter Regional Hospital and transported to Porter County Jail Sunday.
The incident began as a fight between two women at the intersection of Central Avenue and Willowcreek Road.
Devries and another woman were northbound on Willowcreek Road and stopped at a red light at Central Avenue when the women got into an argument over Devries' alleged erratic driving. Devries allegedly rolled down her window, took a can of Mace and sprayed it at the other vehicle. The window of the second woman's vehicle was rolled up. The second woman then got out of her car to take a picture of Devries' license plate.
Devries got out of her car with a knife, banged on the window of the second woman's car. The second woman wasn't aware Devries had a knife and exited her car.
Devries allegedly slashed the woman in the face, arm and leg. She was transported to a local hospital and received stitches for her wounds.
When emergency personnel arrived, they found Devries on the road with a severe laceration to her left arm.
Devries was rushed to Porter Regional Hospital, where she underwent surgery.
