County police asking for help in finding suspected felon

VALPARAISO | Porter County sheriff's police are asking the public's assistance in finding the whereabouts of Joseph Allen Hopper, 29, of Lake Station.

Hopper is wanted on a warrant, charged with a Class C felony battery stemming from a disturbance in a bar in Portage Township earlier this year, said Sgt. Larry LaFlower.

Burglars steal Apple iPad2s, Mac ibooks in school break-in

LIBERTY TOWNSHIP | Duneland School Corp. officials reported a burglary at Liberty Intermediate School, 50 West County Road 900 North.

The forced entry occurred between 10 a.m. July 19 and 2 p.m. July 24. Officials reported to police that thieves had entered the school through an access door from the roof and taken several Mac iBooks and Apple iPad2s and had damaged computer cabinets and a classroom door.
