Reward offered for information on stolen equipment

CHESTERTON | During the overnight hours of Aug. 8, unknown persons forcibly entered the construction site of Urshcel Laboratories at County Road 200 East and Harrington Road.

Stolen from the construction site were an orange 2012 Kubota and a dark green 2013 Kawasaki Mule off-road type vehicle.

Urshcel Laboratories is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible or the recovery of the stolen items, according to a press release from the Chesterton Police Department.

Computer stolen from vehicle

PORTAGE | A Portage resident reported to police Thursday morning that someone broke into his vehicle overnight while he was working at Hardee's, 5101 Clem Road, and stole a laptop computer valued at $400.

According to the police report, someone broke the right rear window of the vehicle to gain entry.

 

Woman arrested after crashing car

UNION TOWNSHIP | An Illinois woman was arrested Thursday night after reportedly wrecking her car while driving intoxicated.

Rebecca Butowski, 27, of Park Forest, Ill., was charged with three counts of driving while intoxicated.

According to a police report, Butowski was driving southbound on County Road 450 West at about 10:20 p.m. Thursday and failed to stop at a stop sign at Ind. 130. According to a witness, the vehicle went airborne as it went over an embankment on the south side of Ind. 130.

Butkowski registered a .11 blood alcohol level on a portable breath test. She was transported to Porter Regional Hospital, released and then transported to Porter County Jail.

 

Boone Township home burglarized

BOONE TOWNSHIP | A resident of the 400 West block of County Road 900 South reported to Porter County Sheriff's police Thursday afternoon that someone had forcibly entered her home while she was out and stole numerous items.

It appeared a door to the home had been kicked in to gain entry. Missing was a laptop computer valued at $750 and several items of jewelry valued at $2,750.

 

Gun, jewelry taken in burglary

UNION TOWNSHIP | A resident of the 400 north block of County Road 375 West reported to Porter County Sheriff's police Thursday morning that someone had forced entry into her home and stole a gun and several pieces of jewelry.

The front door of the home appeared to have been forced open. The Lugar .44 magnum revolver with a scope was taken from a bedroom and valued at $300. Jewelry, valued at $1,100, was also missing.
