Gun stolen from unlocked vehicle in Union Township
UNION TOWNSHIP | A handgun was reported stolen from an unsecured vehicle.
Authorities were called Monday to a home in the 100 block on Main Street where the owner of vehicle reported his Glock G36 semi-automatic .45-caliber handgun was stolen.
The owner told police it was in the center console of his vehicle, which was unlocked. The value was listed at $625.
Copper wire stolen from Verizon cellphone tower
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP | A Verizon employee reported Monday that approximately $3,000 worth of copper wire was taken from a cellphone tower in the 500 East block of Division Road.
Teens arrested, charged with taking scrap metal
VALPARAISO | Two teens were arrested Monday after police said they were trying to take scrap metal from a relative’s yard.
Police were called to a home in the 650 block of Chicago Street where the homeowner said he was alerted that two people were loading a pickup truck with scrap metal, which was in his yard. He came home and found his relative and a friend had loaded about $400 worth of metal into a truck.
Police arrested Jeremy Howard, 18, of Rensselaer and a 17-year-old Wheatfield boy on theft charges.
