A Rolling Prairie area woman made over $1,000 in online purchases but kept receiving her empty packages.

According to LaPorte County police, the items could have been stolen from boxes opened and sealed back shut by a postal worker.

The woman who lives in the 5300 block of East Saugana Trail told police Jan. 3 she spent $1,200 on items purchased on eBay.

Over a two-week period, the packages delivered to her home were either completely empty or contained partial orders.

Police said some of the packaging labels seemed altered and some of the items were too large to properly fit in the boxes they were delivered in.

The victim has been reimbursed for most of the money she spent on the items.
