Cookie walk

Advent Morning of Reflection

WHITING | Advent Morning of Reflection is planned with guest speaker and scripture scholar, the Rev. Breakfast with Santa

CROWN POINT | Breakfast with Santa is from 9 to 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 352 S. Main St. Cost is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and $4 forages 3 to 10. Annual Christmas bake sale

MERRILLVILLE | Annual Christmas Bake Sale includes a large variety of Greek and American pastries and sweets from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at SS Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 8000 Madison St. Lunch will be available from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and diners can choose from lamb shanks with rosa marina pasta w/salad for $12, pastitsio (Greek lasagna) w/salad for $8 or a traditional Greek salad for $5. Cookie and Novelty Sale

HAMMOND | Our Lady of Fatima will host its annual cookie and novelty sale from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 7 and from 8 a.m to noon Dec. 8 at St. Casimir School Blue Room, 4329 Cameron Ave. One pound packages of home baked cookies are $5 per package and other baked goods. Harmony Handbells

CROWN POINT | Harmony Handbells will perform from 4:30 to 6:45 p.m. at Hillside Community Church, 5201 W. 109th Ave. There will be a free-will offering and bake sale to fund the Jon Millstead Memorial Scholarship Fund. The Story of Light

HAMMOND | First Baptist Church will offer a downtown Christmas program at 6 p.m. Dec. 7 and 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. Dec. 8 at 473 Sibley St. The program will include church musicians, a 120-voice choir, a 50-piece orchestra, youth choirs, and soloists. Call (219) 932-0711.


Christmas Music Program

WINFIELD | Christ Presbyterian Church in Winfield will present its annual Christmas Worship Program with talented musicians from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at 7416 E. 109th Ave. The hand bell choir will perform, as well as the choir, and those in attendance, will sing Christmas songs old and new. Sing along/cookie decorating

HIGHLAND | Sing child-friendly Christmas songs complete with costumes for the children to put on, like red noses and black top hats, play indoor snowball as a team game, enjoy a snack, hear a story and decorate cookies to take home at the church's fourth annual event from 2 to 4 p.m. at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 2201 Azalea Drive. Christmas at St. Victor's

CALUMET CITY | This year marks the South Suburban Chorale’s 13th annual Christmas concert, at 4 p.m. in the sanctuary of St. Victor Catholic Church, 553 Hirsch Ave. The 130-member chorale will be directed by Albert M. Jackson and accompanied by pianist Marilyn Bourgeois and organists Mark Sudeith and Michael Cierski. Joined by the Chicago Gargoyle Brass Ensemble, the chorale sings music of Claudio Monteverdi, Franz Biebl, John Rutter, Tomas Luis de Victoria, and others.
