Church hosts rummage sale

MUNSTER | Ridge United Methodist Church will hold its annual Forgotten Treasure Rummage Sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 8607 Columbia Ave. Furniture, electronics, appliances, books, seasonal items, kitchen ware, children's clothing, toys, baby items and more. A bake sale and food court also will be available. All proceeds benefit the missions of Ridge Church. Call (219) 838-4770.

Breakfast seminar

VALPARAISO | Widow's Mite Experience-Indiana Chapter presents Running the Race of Life, featuring speaker Darlene Browning. The event, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Grace Chapel, 157 Lafayette St., will include a continental breakfast and an opportunity to give a donation toward the installation of a fresh water well. The Alpha Sorority of the Indiana Chapter is hosting this event to introduce WME-IN Chapter to the Valparaiso Community and give opportunity to participate in making a difference in the lives of women and their children with a fresh water well. The Indiana Chapter of Widow's Mite Experience is a nonprofit women's organization dedicated to providing clean drinking water, sharing the Living Water and the Word of God with the nations. Covering the Uninsured forum

GARY | Progressive Community Church is hosting a community awareness and health education forum for residents to learn more about the state of Indiana's stance on health care reform from 10 a.m. to noon at the church, 656 Carolina St. Pastor Curtis Whittaker has invited Lisa Adederin, Lake County project coordinator for Covering Kids and Families, to provide residents an overview of health care reform and the fate of Medicaid in Indiana and how residents in Northwest Indiana will be impacted.
