Prayer workshop

HOBART | Hobart First United Methodist Church will host its ninth annual Prayer Workshop from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 654 E. Fourth St. A continental breakfast and light lunch will be provided. Titled "Table Grace: How Holy Communion can invite us into a new heaven and a new earth ... within our present world." The speaker is the Rev. Dr. Ben Stewart, professor of worship dean of the chapel at the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago. Clothing giveaway

Chicken Dinner

LPSCU Branch 79

WHITING | The Ladies Pennsylvania Slovak Catholic Union (LPSCU) is sponsoring a Mass for deceased and living members of Branch 79, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at St. John the Baptist, 1849 Lincoln Ave. A light luncheon will follow, which is free to members and a charge of $6 for nonmember guests. Women in the Word

CHESTERTON | Liberty Bible Church invites all women to attend a Tuesday morning Bible study, Women in the Word. SCHERERVILLE | Awana is a fun and exciting place at Lake Hills Baptist Church where kids learn the Bible, from 6:15 to 8 p.m. at 9209 W. 85th Ave. Each Awana night includes a game time where clubbers play fast moving games that create a spirit of fun team competition around the world-famous Awana circle. Handbook Time gives clubbers an opportunity to achieve, earn rewards, and learn God's Word through various projects and Scripture memory goals. Council Time includes practical instruction from the Bible about how every boy and girl can become a child of God and grow in their faith. GEMS Girls Club meets
