Holiday bazaar

MERRILLVILLE | Anglican Church of St. Andrew the Evangelist will hold a holiday bazaar from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 8555 Grand Blvd. Call (219) 696-0936.

Food distribution

GARY | Members of Christ Baptist Church Food Pantry Ministry will conduct a food distribution on a first-come, first-served basis until it is all distributed. Distributions are usually held at 10 a.m. on the fourth Saturday of each month. Call (219) 938-5504.

Chili dinner

CROWN POINT | The Youth Group of Christ Presbyterian Church will host a chili dinner to raise money and goods for the food pantry in Winfield and the youth program from 4 to 7 p.m. at 7416 E. 109th Ave. Bring a nonperishable food donation for $1 off ticket. Call (219) 663-0129.

Thanksgiving prayer service

WHITING | An interdenominational Thanksgiving Service is planned from 2 to 3 p.m. at St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, 2011 Clark St. Service begins with area pastors and their faithful congregations assembling to share sacred Scripture and to praise God in prayerful song. A freewill offering will benefit the Whiting Food Pantry, and a social will follow immediately after the service in the church hall. Call (219) 659-4138.

AIDS Awareness Gospel Fest

GARY | To kickoff World AIDS Day, the Gary Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta sorority will host Lifting Our Voices for AIDS Awareness Gospel Fest from 3 to 6 p.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ, 1276 W. 20th Ave. Raise awareness and show support for those living with HIV/AIDS. The fest will feature music, praise dancers and provide an opportunity for communities to discuss HIV. Free testing will be provided. Call (219) 805-3623.


Thanksgiving Day Mass

GRIFFITH | St. Mary Church will hold a Thanksgiving Day Mass with the Rev. Theodore J. Mens, presiding, from 9 to 10 a.m. at 525 N. Broad St. Guests are invited to bring canned goods to the church which will be distributed to needy families in the area. At the end of Mass, first-graders from St. Mary School and the Religious Education Program dressed as pilgrims and Indians will sing and perform. Call (219) 924-4163.

Harvest for the Hungry

MERRILLVILLE | SS. Constantine and Helen Greek Church will host a free Thanksgiving Dinner with all the trimmings to any person in need from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day at the Hellenic Cultural Center, 8000 Madison St. Call (219) 769-2481.
