SOUTH HAVEN | The Salvation Army Porter County Corps Community Center is accepting applications from people who need help with food, clothing and toys for the 2013 Christmas season.
Porter County resident families and individuals can apply for Christmas Day food assistance, Angel Tree and Adopt-a-Family assistance programs.
Porter County residents need to apply in person at The Salvation Army, Monday through Friday, through Nov. 15, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., (application doors close 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.) at 799 Capitol Road.
Applicants need to bring a picture identification of the person applying, Social Security cards or Medicaid cards for all household members, birth certificate for each child in the household (birth to 13 years), proof of current address in Porter County with name on a bill or like item, proof of income and assistance for last 30 days, clothing and shoe sizes for children and gift choices (three reasonable gift ideas per child, 13 years and younger, attending school).
The application process is only for the adult applying; do not bring children during this time. Space is limited and there is no child care available. Call The Salvation Army Corps at (219) 762-9191 for more information.
