VALPARAISO | A jury deliberated less than two hours before finding Lake Station resident Jason King guilty Thursday on charges of attempted murder and aggravated battery in the Feb. 4, 2011, shooting at The Warehouse bar in South Haven.
King, 37, will be sentenced at 9 a.m. July 24 by Porter Circuit Court Judge Mary Harper.
King told told jurors Thursday morning he did not shoot Woodrow McGuire Jr., of Gary, Feb. 4, 2011, at The Warehouse bar in South Haven.
King said he shared words with McGuire after noticing McGuire staring at him. Afterward, the arm of an unknown individual reached over his shoulder and shot McGuire in the face, King said.
McGuire suffered a minor wound and was released from the hospital emergency room the same night. Police said at the time McGuire later was transported to a Chicago hospital for surgery.
King was cleared on a third charge of possession of stolen property.
