SOUTH HAVEN | A South Haven woman was arrested Wednesday after witnesses said she shoved a teenager and punched a 50-year-old woman in an apparent road rage incident.

Lisa Berry, 33, is charged with battery, resisting law enforcement, disorderly conduct and drunken driving, according to authorities.

Police were called about 3:15 p.m. Wednesday to the 300 block of Midway Drive to investigate a disturbance.

Witnesses told police Berry was tailgating another driver on Juniper Road, then almost caused a wreck on Midway Drive as she tried to pass the other car on the left as it attempted to turn left into a driveway.

According to police, an 18-year-old man who saw the near miss shouted at Berry to slow down. Investigators say Berry turned around, got out of her car and started pushing the 18-year-old man.

Two people in the car that were tailgated saw this and the 50-year-old woman, who was in the car, went to the aid of the man.

Police said Berry punched the woman in the jaw.

Police arrived and arrested Berry. Officers said she struggled with police, as they took her into custody. Police said she then began to kick the door and window of the squad car. When officers removed her from the car, she kicked officers before they placed her in leg cuffs.

Berry told officers she was not able to breath, so she was taken to Porter Regional Hospital.

There, police said she was allowed to use a bathroom while the officer stood outside. Police said Berry then apparently injured her own eye while in the bathroom and told the officer she had been punched by the 50-year-old woman.

Police said Berry had a blood alcohol content of .19 percent.
