Pantry on the Go

PORTAGE | Pantry on the Go is back, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Duneland Falls Banquet and Meeting Center, 1100 N. Max Mochal Highway. The Food Bank of Northwest Indiana will set up temporary pantries in different locations around Northwest Indiana each week to serve those needing food assistance. Free grains, fruits, vegetables, dairy and protein. First come, first served, while supplies last. Bring bags or boxes to carry items home. This service is available to all Northwest Indiana residents in need. Bring valid proof of Indiana residence (driver's license, state ID, utility bill, etc.) for service. Call (219) 980-1777.

Bookends Book Discussion

Caregiver's Day Out

VALPARAISO | Avalon Springs Health Campus to host Caregiver's Day Out Program from noon to 4 p.m. at The Legacy, 2400 Silhavy. Free educational session offers coping tips and tools to those caring for a loved one with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia. It also hosts a special program for in-home caregivers. The Caregiver's Day Out program will include a free lunch and Caregiver Survival Kit, complimentary beauty and pampering services, as well as a special educational presentation, all while your loved one enjoys complimentary adult day care during the event. Kidney health topics to be discussed are: understanding how kidneys work and what they do, practicing kidney-healthy behaviors, controlling your health through diet, reviewing the common medicines for people with CKD, choosing the right treatment for your health and lifestyle, learning to work with your health care team, coping with kidney disease, understanding insurance programs, staying active and continuing to work. Annual Spring Bazaar

VALPARAISO | Village Park Enrichment Center will hold its annual Spring Bazaar from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 605 Beech St. This event benefits Valparaiso's senior center. the bazaar features exhibitors selling furniture, crafts, jewelry, antiques, linens, art, collectibles, clothing and more. There is no admission charge. The Spring Bazaar is a fundraiser for the center, which is the main provider of activities and educational offerings for older adults. Lunch menu includes hamburgers, hotdogs, potato salad, ice cream sundae bar which can be purchased from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Call (219) 462-1301.

Information Fair

KOUTS | A Community Resource and Information Fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St Paul's Lutheran Church, 507 S. Rose St. Guests will have the opportunity to speak with a variety of service providers and receive information on area resources such as transportation, meals and home services available to older adults. Vision screenings will be provided by the Kouts Lion's Club. This event is part of a community education project presented by St. Paul's Lutheran Church and coordinated by Pines Village Retirement Communities. Call (219) 766-2395.
