SOUTH HAVEN | The Porter County Sheriff’s Department announced it will  target abandoned vehicles in the South Haven and Salt Creek Commons neighborhoods.

An abandoned vehicle is a vehicle that is at least three model years old, is mechanically inoperable, and is left on private property continuously in a location visible from public property for more than 20 days.

Residents of unincorporated Porter County with abandoned vehicles are asked to get them removed or they may be impounded.

Residents are also reminded by police that they need to have their address posted on their house or mailbox per county ordinance.
